Are you double cleansing? Why not? Double cleansing is a vital step and should not be missed in your skin routine. It's as simple as it sounds- you cleanse, twice. The first cleanse lasts at least 60 seconds and is preferably with an oil based cleanser, to help break down makeup, draw out excess oil (did you know oil attracts oil? By using an oil cleanser, you actually help pull the excess oil out of your pores, and along with it all the dirtied bacteria it accumulated, like a magnet!), and purify your pores. Obviously, lash extensions are a huge thing nowadays, and oil is a big no no since it breaks down your glue. You can also go in with an oil free foaming cleanser as your first cleanse, to help break down the days grime. You would then, once the surface area is prepped and clean, go in with a targeted cleanser for your skin type and need, for another 60 second cleanse. If you can leave it on longer, phenomenal, but you want at least60 seconds for your skin to absorb all the goodness. For dry skin, a hydrating, creamy cleanser is recommended. For oily skin, a salicylic acid cleanser or oil reducing cleanser is suggested. You get the gist of it! Whatever your skin needs, you're able to target with a specific cleanser. The reason behind this practice is that a single cleanse is not enough. Today, people wear makeup and touch their face a million times a day, as well as sweat, produce oil, and expose themselves to environmental toxins like pesticides, car fumes, or mold (unfortunately, these are way more common and we are exposed to toxins more than we'd care to think about). By completing a first cleanse, you're able to remove the swath of dirt and junk, and prepare the skin to fully absorb the benefits of your targeted cleanse. When skin is bogged down with all the things in the way, it's not able to fully reap the benefits of your cleanser. By performing the first cleanse to remove the residue, and a second cleanse to treat skin issues, you'll be able to maximize your products with a little more effort. Glowing skin is, and always will be, worth it!
